Infusion Pumps

Photo: medical devicesSecure technology for new drugs

It is often not possible for a physician to administer medications that are effective at the lowest dosages with a customary needle. With syringe pumps, these highly effective drugs can, however, be administered through the vein for longer periods of time. The smallest amounts can be exactly dosed this way. Fresenius Kabi’s infusion devices are also used to introduce infusion solutions. Syringe pumps precisely administer small quantities (0.1 to 200 milliliters per hour) while volumetric infusion pumps are used to deliver larger quantities (1 to 1,500 milliliters per hour). Fresenius Kabi is among the leading manufacturers of pumps for infusion and clinical nutrition in Europe.

The exact dosage is important

Exact dosages are as important for premature babies as cardiac and other intensive care patients – these patients are sometimes given very high concentrations at very low delivery rates. Patients with serious injuries are also frequently given painkillers through a syringe pump. This is similar to the way syringe pumps are used during anesthesia.

Orchestra simplifies the simultaneous infusion of several fluids

Newly operated cardiac patients are sometimes connected to as many as 15 of these pumps, each of which can precisely infuse medications into the vein. Reliable, space saving and flexible systems such as the IV Modular Infusion Manager Orchestra simplify the simultaneous infusion of several fluids for intensive care staff.
