Frequently Asked Questions
Is the analysis of food part of the business of Fresenius SE?
No, Fresenius is a global health care company with products and services for dialysis, hospitals and ambulatory medical care. However, the Institut Fresenius based in Taunusstein provides chemical, biological and physical analysis. The two companies are not associated with each other but are historically linked. In the 18th century, the Fresenius family split into a pharmacists’ and a chemists’ line. Today's health care group originated from the pharmacists’ line whereas Institut Fresenius evolved from the chemists’ line.
Is Fresenius a chemical or a pharmaceutical company?
Neither. Fresenius is a health care group with an innovative range of products, therapies and services. Its products business focuses on medical devices and nutritional therapies. The services business includes dialysis care and out-patient nutrition and infusion therapies as well as the planning, construction, equipping and management of hospitals and health care facilities around the world.
Why does the Fresenius Group have four business segments?

This corporate structure is based on a divisional and regional organization established years ago.
