Fresenius Kabi in China
China is one of the most important markets for Fresenius Kabi in the Asia-Pacific region. Two joint-venture companies, Sino-Swede Pharmaceutical Corporation (SSPC) and Beijing Fresenius Kabi Pharmaceutical (BFP), employ a total of about 2,000 people in China. Fresenius Kabi increased its 65 percent stake in BFP to 100 percent in 2005.
Wuxi plant
SSPC was founded in 1982 and was the first Chinese-Swedish joint venture. It has been owned by Fresenius since 1998. Wuxi is located on the Yangtze delta in the southeast of the country, about 130 kilometers from Shanghai. With about 1 million inhabitants, the town is also known as "Little Shanghai". SSPC manufactures infusion solutions for parenteral and enteral nutrition here. The plant is one of the pharmaceutical production facilities with the highest quality standards in China.
Beijing plant
In Beijing, the capital, BFP manufactures among others infusion solutions for volume therapy, basic infusion solutions and intravenously administered drugs. BFP was founded in 1994 as Fresenius' first joint venture in China. In this country, the company sells HAES-steril®, the anesthetic Propofol and Ketosteril®, a product for patients with chronic kidney failure.
